The Selva Lacandona rainforest in Mexico is rapidly disappearing. Scientists and locals are concerned, but somehow don’t manage to connect their knowledge and know-how.

That is why we, as the Cascoland Collective, have set up the Keepers project. This platform brings together local communities, creatives, scientists, farmers and cooks around the kitchen table to connect, exchange knowledge and implement new cross-disciplinary solutions to farming. Keepers is a testing ground for ideas that promote land restoration, conservation, food production and better livelihoods in the tropical region with the ultimate aim slow down climate change. The design bridges communication gaps, unlocking humanity’s potential to solve problems together.

In November 2017 this project was chosen the Professional Track Winner of the What Design Can Do Climate Challenge.
